Course Information

The Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship is ideal if you are progressing into line management or are already working in a team leader/supervisory role and wish to develop your skills further.

Course Content
  • You will be required to undertake and have an understanding of a number of different core skills, knowledge and behaviours in order to complete this apprenticeship. These include:

    Team management principles - including team dynamics, motivation and managing resources and workloads
    Leadership techniques - including coaching, decision making, role modelling and managing change
    Performance management - including absence management, conducting appraisals, setting goals and objectives
    Relationship management - including negotiation and networking skills and customer and stakeholder management
    Communications - including active listening, chairing meetings, presentation and digital, verbal and written communication skills
    Human resources (HR) and legal requirements - including equality, diversity and inclusion
    Operational and project management - including planning and prioritisation, collecting, analysing and using data and risk management
    Financial management - including controlling budgets, delivering value for money and governance and compliance

    If you do not already hold level 2 functional skills in maths and English (GCSE grade 4 or C), you will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

    On completion, you may choose to register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, to support your professional career development and progression.Delivery of this course is in the workplace, with weekly workshops held at college.
Entry Requirements
  • GCSE Grade 4 or C in maths and English or level 2 functional skills in maths and English.

    Entry is subject to a successful interview and you will undertake an initial assessment in maths and English regardless of previous qualifications. You must be working under a suitable and relevant contract of employment for a minimum of 30 hours a week. If you do not have an employer, we may be able to help you find one.

Course Fees

There are no course fees for eligible students. Students will also earn a full-time wage while they are working for their apprenticeship employer.
You will need access to a PC/laptop to develop your e-portfolio.

Materials Required

Notepad, Pen, Folder, Memory stick, any additional study materials such as textbooks.
