Do you want to work in the exciting world of outdoor adventure? Do you enjoy a practical approach to learning? This Level 3 course gives you the underpinning knowledge & skills to develop a career in sport and outdoor adventure through in depth theory and practical development.
This Level 3 Diploma (smaller than the Extended Diploma) will help you become more proficient in your practical ability in activities like kayaking, climbing and caving and will learn the skills that will enable you to flourish in the outdoor sports industry. It is also will help you progress onto Higher Education. Students will need to maintain appropriate level of fitness throughout the course, work on teamwork and communication skills and participate in a wide range of practical activities.

    This is equivalent to 2 A Levels

    *Unit E: Research Project in Sport can only be taken in the second year.

    Practical content includes:
    Climbing, mountain biking, caving, navigation, paddlesport (kayaking & canoeing), ropes course, archery, orienteering (including competitions), personal training (gym) and team sports. You will take part in several expeditions culminating in a week long expedition in the UK or abroad.
    You will also have the opportunity to gain other coaching and leadership qualifications, National Governing Body (NGB) Awards, GCSEs and Functional Skills.
Entry Requirements
  • 4 GCSEs at minimum grades 9-4 / A*-C, including English and maths OR a Level 2 Diploma at Merit level including English and maths grades 9-4 / A*-C. You need a keen interest in outdoor adventure/sport/uniformed public services.

Course Fees

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.
