Level 2 Agriculture Apprenticeship
Course Content
-
You will be required to undertake and have an understanding of a number of different core skills, knowledge and behaviours in order to complete this apprenticeship. These include:
Handling and restraining livestock
Health and welfare of livestock
Assessing the condition and behaviour of animals
Animal welfare and stress prevention
Record keeping
The following qualifications will need to be achieved prior to taking the end point assessment: Level 3 Emergency first aid at work, The safe use of pesticides, Additional safe use of Pesticides in Boom Sprayer, Mounted, trailer or Self-propelled equipment OR Granular applicator equipment OR Handheld applicator equipment.
On completion of the pesticides foundation unit above also choose one of the following units: Boom sprayer, mounted, trailed or self-propelled equipment, Granular applicator equipment, Handheld applicator equipment.
If you do not already hold Level 1 Functional Skills in maths and English (GCSE grade 2 or E), you will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English prior to taking the end-point assessment.You will be required to attend college one day a week.
Entry Requirements

GCSE grade 2 or E in maths and English or level 1 functional skills in maths and English.
Entry is subject to a successful interview and you will undertake an initial assessment in maths and English regardless of previous qualifications. You must be working under a suitable and relevant contract of employment for a minimum of 30 hours a week. If you do not have an employer, we may be able to help you find one.

Course Fees
There are no course fees for eligible students. Students will also earn a full-time wage while they are working for their apprenticeship employer.

Materials Required
You will need access to a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone in order to record important information related your apprenticeship. A yellow hi-vis vest, clean overalls and steel toe capped boots will also be required - your employer may provide you with personal protective equipment.
