City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills
Course Content
-
Our traineeship consists of three distinct sections, these are:
- work preparation: where we'll work with you to prepare you for work
- work experience: where you'll learn new skills with an employer
- functional skills: where you'll undertake your English and maths learning if you don't already have GCSE 9-4 in those subjects.
Work Preparation:
in this section, you'll be looking at completing industry research in your chosen sector, learn interview and communication skills. We'll also be looking at issues around personal finance and healthy living, in order to provide you with a broad understanding to help you in life.
Work Experience:
You'll have to work to get through this traineeship - literally. You'll be tasked with finding an employer (we'll help you here too!) that is willing to take you on as a trainee. You'll be a member of their team and expected to take on selected tasks that will enable you to learn new skills. You'll have to keep a record of your work experience and use our online e-portfolio system for this purpose.
Functional Skills:
if you don't have GCSE 9-4 in maths / English, then you'll have to work towards achieving this throughout your traineeship. Didn't like GCSE's? You'll find functional skills is different and more suited to work and life in general.
