Teacher Training - The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training prepares trainee teachers to teach in a range of contexts. There is a significant practice requirement, as this qualification will assess, and provide evidence of, competence when undertaking teaching and/or training responsibilities.

Topics covered include: planning, delivering and evaluating teaching and learning developing the skills to assess learning in education and training developing knowledge around theories, principles and models in education and training understanding professionalism and the influence of professional values in education and training.

Entry Requirements
  • Access to 100 hours of teaching practice is required. A good standard of English is required in order to complete written assignments at Level 5.
Next Steps
  • Professional status QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills) can be applied for on completion of the Diploma by undergoing professional conformation.
Career Opportunities
  • This is aimed at teachers already in practice but continued employment in teaching can lead to QTLS status and also opportunities to study at Masters level in Education (MEd).
