Not sure what direction to take? Do you feel you could do with developing the skills and qualities needed to progress on to employment or other further education courses? Then this could be the course for you!

This one year course combines the best of outdoor education, sports, health and fitness and classroom based study and work experience to help you develop self-esteem, teamwork, leadership and personal development, to give you the confidence to achieve your goals and plan your future. As well as gaining a qualification, you will also have the opportunity to take part in Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, National Citizenship Service and gain certificates of achievement in kayaking, climbing, mountain biking and teamwork.

    Investigating rights and responsibilities at work
    Managing your health at work
    Taking part in sport
    Assisting at a sport or active leisure event
    Take part in exercise and fitness activities
    How the body works

    Preparing for work placement.
Entry Requirements
  • 3 GCSEs including GCSE English and maths grade 1 - 2 or equivalent. You will need a willingness to learn new skills, to undertake practical tasks and to explore career and educational paths. A genuine interest in Sport and Outdoor Adventure is essential.

Course Fees

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.
You will be required to purchase course clothing at approximately £100 - this cost will include a contribution towards additional educational visits.

Materials Required

Basic stationery - pens, pencils, A4 lever arch file, ruler and eraser. Practical clothing suitable for the weather condition. Course sweatshirt and sports T-shirt. Outdoor footwear.
