Course Information

This two year Level 3 Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services (smaller than the Extended Diploma) aims to help develop the skills and knowledge required to gain employment in the uniformed public services. If you are interested in a career in the Police, HM Customs & Excise, Probation Service, Fire & Rescue Service, Immigration or any public sector related job, then this is the course for you. This qualification requires motivation and a good academic level of achievement as it gives learners the opportunity to progress into Higher Education or employment in the Public Service Sector.

This course is specifically designed to give you some 'hands-on' experience whilst preparing you with that academic skills to progress in the public services or prepare you for university. Alongside practical and vocational learning the study programme requires written assignments, externally assessed examinations and classroom work with the aim of developing students to become fully independent researchers, so you will need to be disciplined in your time management of assignments.

  • You will take part in many practical activities including high ropes, climbing, kayaking and you will also achieve a good level of fitness! In addition you could achieve the following qualifications: First aid All students will have the opportunity to join the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme (DofE) and can participate in Football and Rugby at various levels with the chance of joining the British Colleges Leagues college team.

Entry Requirements
  • 4 GCSEs at minimum grades 9-4 / A*-C, including English and maths OR a Level 2 Diploma at Merit level including English and maths grades 9-4 / A*-C. You need a keen interest in outdoor adventure/sport/uniformed public services.

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.
