Learn the basic skills, knowledge and understanding of working in countryside and conservation, this course helps you prepare for progression to a more advanced course, or an apprenticeship.Kingston Maurward College offers the ideal environment for students to develop countryside skills at their own pace under expert guidance. The programme offers a broad range of subjects and practical skills. Assessment takes place throughout the year and support is available with developing numeracy, literacy, study skills, IT and vocational skills.

Entry Requirements
  • 4 GCSEs grade 2 or above, including English and maths.Interest and enthusiasm in working in the land-based industries is essential. Other experience within the land-based industries will also be considered.

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.

Materials Required

Basic Stationery; Calculator, Pens, paper and lever arch files. Suitable Outdoor Clothing - The clothing must be suitable for environment, work gloves, weather and time of year, Protective Overalls, Steel Toe Capped Work Boots, Steel Toe Capped Wellington Boots, Hi-vis yellow vest. Department uniform (polo shirt and sweat shirt). Tetanus protection is recommended. All protective equipment will be inspected by the Course Manager
