Course Information

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is the UK's leading qualification and membership body for accounting staff and provides the only fast-track non-graduate route into chartered accountancy. At the advanced diploma, you will master more complex financial processes, including final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, reports and returns and professional ethics.

Course Content
  • You will gain skills in the following areas:

    Making provisions for doubtful and irrecoverable debts
    Reconciling ledgers with the cash book
    The importance of professional ethics in the working environment
    Analysing variances
    Use of spreadsheets to manage information in the accounting environment

    There will be a computer based exam at the end of each unit, with a final exam covering all units at the end of the course. Your qualification will be graded ( Pass, Merit, Distinction).

    Please note that all AAT exams will be scheduled during the daytime and not the evening and there will be a limit to the number of exam retakes you can do.

    Candidates will also be expected to undertake additional study outside class times.

    Course fees comprise tuition fees and computer based assessment fees (registration/exam) for each of the units, payable to the college. AAT membership fees are payable directly to AAT.

    Text books, with a question banks are available for purchase at a discount through the college.
Entry Requirements
  • Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and accounts qualifications at level 2 or above are desirable. However, students who have prior accounts experience may be accepted at the discretion of the course tutor, and upon successful completion of a short test.

AAT membership.AAT study texts and exam kits available through the college at discounted rate.

Materials Required

Memory stick, study text and exam kit. If possible students should aim to attend college with their own device (e.g. laptop) for use with relevant software. Software for use is downloadable via AAT membership.
