This 10 week course is specifically designed for the first time horse owner, parents who look after their children’s ponies, potential owners or anyone who has a love of horses.
It provides a straight forward and uncluttered guide to the care and management of the horse in a fun and informal setting. The course is a mixture of classroom based theory sessions with some practical sessions at Manor Stables working with our horses.

  • During this course you will cover the following topics;
    Grooming kits and grooming methods
    Tack including safe use and fit of saddlery
    How to handle horses safely and understand how they react and think
    Shoeing horses
    Basic feeding and watering rules for all seasons
    How to keep horses healthy and recognise ill health
    Points of the horse and markings
    How to go about buying a horse
Entry Requirements
  • An interest in horses only. Minimum age 13 yrs.
