Course Information

This training course will develop competency for the British Horse Society Stage 1 Care syllabus and you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and responsibilities of working safely on a stable yard. It will also acknowledge your practical skills in caring for the welfare and daily management of horses, including horse behaviour and health, grooming and suitable use of equipment and tack.

Course Content
  • You course training will follow the following outcomes:

    Know about the responsibilities of working on the stable yard
    Be able to maintain a clean stable
    Be able to carry out routine grooming tasks
    Be able to describe horses and know about horse behaviour and health
    Be able to use rugs appropriately
    Be able to tack up and un-tack
    Be able to handle a horse
    Be able to feed and water a horse

    Please note there is a discount if Stage 1 Riding is booked with Stage 1 Care, the cost would be £430 for both courses.
Entry Requirements
  • Enthusiastic and with a current skills set to the level ready to be supported by an AP Coach for external assessment preparation. Minimum age 13 years old.
