Course Information

Purposely designed to develop further skills and knowledge of the construction industry, this course is based in our modern purpose-built facilities and is supported by the knowledge of our industry experienced lecturing team. The course uses a mixture of practical and theory sessions plus online tests and practical assessments, designed to cover a diverse range of topics reflecting the local industry requirements. The extensive Kingston Maurward campus gives plenty of scope for real practical projects during the study programme.

Entry Requirements
  • You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 2, 3 or higher to include English and mathematics and a Level 1 construction qualification and a satisfactory educational reference will need to be received.

    Mature applicants with relevant, related experience are also welcome to apply and discuss their suitability further with the course manager.

    Applicants without formal construction qualifications will be asked to take part in a practical skills assessment at interview. You will need energy and enthusiasm for construction and will be required to complete a work placement within the industry. Tetanus protection is recommended.

Course Fees

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.

Materials Required

Basic stationery - pens, pencils, ruler and eraser, A4 lever arch files, calculator. Protective overalls, work gloves and steel toe-capped boots - all protective equipment will be inspected by the course instructor. Practical clothing suitable for the weather conditions necessary at all times. College branded Polo shirts and sweatshirts and cargo trousers are available for purchase at College.
