This course is tailored to absolute beginners and will give you an introduction to setting up an Arc welder, and a Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welder correctly, observing all industry health and safety procedures before using the equipment safely

Course Content
  • You will be welding in your own individual booth which has an inverter arc welder, metal inert gas (MIG) welding unit and extraction units to remove welding fumes from your work.
    The first 6 weeks you will learn basic arc welding using different diameter welding rods and applying these basic skills to weld 1 to 3 welded joints, which could be either a lap joint, open corner or tee fillet weld.
    The following 5 weeks you will learn to weld, using the metal inert gas (MIG) process. You will learn to set the machine up safely, and work to produce 1 to 3 welded joints as above, which could be useful in most metal joining fabrications.

Steel toe capped boots required

Wear old cloths- Cotton based fabrics, or jeans (Aprons and overalls available)
