Course Information

Learn the basic skills, knowledge and understanding of working with plants within conservation and landscape industries. This course covers core units alongside our level 1 Agriculture course and provides an opportunity to study a specialist plant unit. You will gain experience in a number of skill areas and the course offers the ideal environment for you to develop skills for working in horticultural industries and the countryside at your own pace, and under expert guidance. The programme offers a broad range of subjects and practical skills. with plenty of outside work. Assessment takes place throughout the year and support is available with developing numeracy, literacy, study skills, IT and vocational skills.

Entry Requirements
  • 4 GCSEs grade 1 or equivalent or above, including English and maths. Interest and enthusiasm in working in the land-based industries is essential. Other experience within the land-based industries will also be considered.

Course Fees

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.

Materials Required

Basic Stationery; Calculator, Pens, paper and lever arch files. Suitable Outdoor Clothing - The clothing must be suitable for environment, work gloves, weather and time of year, Protective Overalls, Steel Toe Capped Work Boots, Tetanus protection is recommended. All protective equipment will be inspected by the Course Manager
