Course Information

When studying a T Level you will spend 80% of your time at college with specialist tutors in theory sessions and practical sessions, and 20% on a high quality horticultural placement with an employer. T Level courses are for 16-19 year olds who have completed their GCSEs.

Course Content
  • Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

    ornamental horticulture and landscape design, plant and soil science, plant management, plant propagation and landscaping skills, sustainability, including environmental legislation, sustainable development, climate change and waste management principles, turf maintenance, vegetation management, business organisations, enterprise skills and project management, the supply chain and principles of stock management.

Entry Requirements
  • 5 GCSEs 9-4 to include English and maths and Science subjects Level 2 in Horticulture at Distinction level.

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.
Contribution towards field and study trips.

Materials Required

Basic stationery: calculator, pens, paper and lever arch files. Suitable outdoor clothing - the clothing must be suitable for environment, weather and time of year. Protective overalls. Steel toe capped work boots. Hi-vis yellow vest, work gloves. Department uniform: polo shirt and sweatshirt. Tetanus protection is recommended. All protective equipment will be inspected by the Course Manager
