Course Information
You will be studying the Level 3 qualification in blacksmithing and metalworking which will give you the opportunity to make progress in the metalsmith sector, whether your chosen route is employment, an apprenticeship or university.
It is broadly equivalent in size to two A Levels.

The level 3 study programme introduces the learners to essential understanding in the following units:
Undertake Workshop Practice for Blacksmithing and Metalworking Understanding and Using Forging Techniques for Blacksmithing and Metalworking Undertake Drawing Practice for Blacksmithing and Metalworking Business Management in the Land-based Sector Undertake Introductory Welding for Blacksmithing and Metalworking Undertake and Review Work- Related Experience in the Land-based Industries. You will also be required to carry out Work Experience outside of college with an employer.
Entry Requirements
- 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4, to include English and mathematics, and a satisfactory educational reference will need to be received. Progression from the successful completion of a Level 2 in Blacksmithing and Welding is also considered.

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances. |

Materials Required
Although PPE is available, we firmly advise students to provide their own welding mask and goggles and any items of a personal nature for their own hygiene protection. KMC uniform (polo shirt and sweat shirt), Flame retardant protective overalls, Steel toecap safety boots.
