Course Information

Teacher Training for Further Education Sector- The City and Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (FE and Skills) prepares trainee teachers to teach in the Further Education sector. There is a significant practice requirement, as this qualification will assess, and provide evidence of, competence when undertaking teaching and/or training responsibilities. Student must have a teaching role in the FE sector that can provide 250 hours of experience, including min150 hours subject teaching. the additional 100hours is non-teaching placement time. There is an additional subsidiary placement of min 20 hours at another provider.

Entry Requirements
  • Access to 150 hours of teaching practice and 100 hours non-teaching practice is required in the FE sector (16 years+). This approximately equates to a role of 3 hours teaching per week for two years. A good standard of English is required in order to complete written assignments at Level 5.

  • The qualification may enable access to Level 6 Top Up programmes in Teaching and Education.
