Come and develop your horticultural skills in the stunning historical grounds of Kingston Maurward. A friendly hands-on course aimed at the enthusiastic amateur gardener looking to polish their practical skills and gain a better understanding of the key tasks for year-round gardening success.
Suitable for everyone; from gardeners looking to expand their gardening know-how to those planning a horticultural career change.
The course meets every Thursday morning during term time. No exams or tests, just great practical experience.

The skills you’ll gain are based on the gardening calendar, covering:
- Garden planning and design principles
- Pruning for fruit and flower
- Propagation from seed and cuttings
- Tree planting and maintenance
- Vegetable cultivation under protection and outdoor

- Soil testing, conditioning and improvement
- Identification of common weeds, pests and diseases

Materials Required
Clothing suitable for working outside and gardening gloves. Robust footwear with non-slip soles. A flask of something hot for cold days, and cool for warm days, we are outside 99% of the time!
