Course Information

This course aims to provide a progression route to a full bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the FdA in Business Management offered at Coastland College. The course is also open to other students looking to progress from HND and Foundation degree programmes nationally, in business management and other suitable programmes to Level 5, such as marketing or leadership and management. The Top Up degree develops business skills at Level 6 that also incorporates skills specific to business need in rural contexts e.g. agriculture, equine, tourism and strategic goals for business development and change that fit the demands of the diversity in rural economies.

The programme will provide graduates with a range of skills to work effectively in the business sector with an option to specialise in supporting rural business development.. This could be in developing strategy for existing businesses, applying entrepreneurial skills in business concepts or start ups and acting in an advisory capacity to other businesses.

The programme aims to develop skills in three key areas to create graduates with confident and professional business skills alongside analytical skills to strategise business planning:

Entrepreneurship and Enterprise
Business consultancy and Project management

Entry Requirements
  • Students applying for the Top Up should have completed 240 Higher Education credits with 120 credits at Level 5. Those eligible for the course will therefore have a Foundation Degree (FdA), Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma of Higher Education in a suitable subject. This includes Business Management, Leadership, Marketing or similar. These programmes should be achieved at a Pass grade.

    International students can also apply with relevant credits or study to the appropriate level, but may also need evidence skills in English through a score of 5.5 on IELTS.

  • Graduates will be prepared to be able to go into employment in business roles across the sector and with in a wide range of industries.
