These develop core skills and knowledge in Animal Behaviour, Welfare, Ecology and Husbandry.
In the second year, students may elect to choose option units on pathways aimed at progression into Companion Animal Management or Animal Conservation.

Entry Requirements

Entrants will need Level 3 qualifications. This could include
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management (1080) - City and Guilds or BTEC - grade PPP or above, or MP for the 720 credit Extended Diploma.
A Levels to a combination of 48 UCAS points - key subjects Biology, Psychology
Applicants should have GCSEs in English and maths at grade 4 or above.
Mature students may want to discuss qualifications and experience before applying, but are not exempt from the course if they do not have specific entry qualifications.
International students can apply but should have achieved IELTS at 5.5 or above.

Career Opportunities

The course will provide routes into employment in the Animal Management industry or progression to BSc Top Up programmes at Kingston Maurward or other Universities and Colleges in the UK.
Roles include Animal Care Assistants in Veterinary Surgeries, Animal Rehabilitation, Animal Physical Therapists, Independent Animal Trainers and others roles in animal collections and zoos, environmental education and conservation organisations.

Students on this course are normally eligible for a student loan depending on their circumstances.

There may be additional cost for ensuring students have adequate PPE, costs of transport to the college and offsite trips may require additional costs such as entrance fees. Study Tours will have additional costs depending on the tour offered. |
Materials Required
Learners will have practical sessions and should ensure they have correct PPE. This includes suitable clothing, steel toe boots, water proofs. Learners will also find it useful to have their own devices (laptops, tablets) to bring to college for classwork and to access learning materials.
