Do you like caring for animals or plants? Do you want to learn how to drive a tractor? Do you prefer to be outside and doing practical tasks? Would you like to have a go at all of these things? If the answer is yes then this course is perfect for you. We can help you develop practical, social and life skills - and gain a recognised qualification - all in the safe and friendly environment of Greys Loft the Centre for Foundation Studies which is based in the centre of the college campus.

You will learn subjects like large and small animal care and gardening to help you start to get a job or carry on in education, plus you can relax and socialise in small groups as you develop your social skills within the wider college community. Entry Requirements
  • No formal entry requirements. You must have a desire to work outdoors in a variety of practical land based subjects. We will also need full details of special educational needs and any other reports from relevant bodies or establishments to ensure that we are able to put in place the correct level of support for each individual learner.

There are no course fees for eligible students aged 16-18. Students aged 19-25 may also be eligible for government funding or a student loan depending on their circumstances.
We may ask for contributions toward some off site activities

Materials Required

Protective overalls and steel toe-capped boots - all protective equipment will be inspected by the course instructor. Waterproof clothing. Kit for outdoor ed.
